Richard entered the foster care system in 2000 at the age of thirteen. During his time in care Richard was in four different placements. He has had the support of his most current foster family since July 2001. Although Richard has dealt with significant trauma, separation, and loss in his life he has always maintained his drive to achieve and succeed.
Richard is currently a senior at Suffolk University in Boston and is scheduled to graduate this May. While at Suffolk, Richard has participated in numerous clubs, leadership programs, internships, and volunteer work that have strengthened his ability to lead and give back to the community. Richard intends to go on to graduate school to earn his Master's Degree in Higher Education. Richard loves to travel and spent a semester abroad studying in Spain during his junior year at Suffolk.
